Chinese!!!

Hankering for some great, cheap, chinese for lunch? Sick of Panda? Try Great China in Orem! Me and Chris were recommended this place by his brother for dinner. But we went for lunch and we were surprised to find that it was an all-you-can-eat buffet for only $5! We always order our favorite Dr. Pepper and the bill ends up at about $12 for the two of us. Awesome!
As far as we can tell the waiter, (for your drinks and seating) is the owner and his family helps run the place. They are very quick with your drinks and are constantly reloading the buffet with hot food. The decor is simple but you feel like you're in a small cafe in Beijing. The bathrooms might need some help, but it is worth it for the de-lish food! There isn't a whole lot to choose from, but it's your basic chinese favorites: Beef and Broccli, Beijing Beef and Pork, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Lemon Chicken(with my favorite lemon sauce for dipping), Kung Pao Chicken and Pork and a few more. So yummy!! You can also go for dinner and order an entree for an average of $6.95 (Urbanspoon.com) a plate. Still affordable! Located by The Outback and Artic Cricle in Orem off of University Parkway.

One of my favorite things to have after chinese food is frozen yogurt. And lo and behold, Hello Yogurt is right next door to Great China! They have a great selection of different flavored yogurts and a fresh selection of toppings. And you can get as much or as little as you want for .35cents an ounce! Check out thier website for a list of their menu www.helloyogurt.com we first experienced this place on a progressive dinner with my bro and sis-in-law. There was a very energetic asian woman that helped us and the environment is fun and bubbly! I don't know how else to explain it! Bright colors, funky furniture, tv! Check it out!

Eatting Out

This is a blog about restaurants and how Chris and I find those great little places that not everyone knows about. Also reviews on specials at big chain restaurants. How do we know you might ask? We unfortunately spend a large amount of our food budget going out. We love to cook together but don't find the time to do that enough. We love to find a place that we've never been to before and really discuss our likes and dislikes about our experience. We decided to start a blog about them and let you know our favorite places to eat and the places that maybe aren't so good. That is the synopsis!!!!

Our current favorite small town cafe is Callies on State St in Orem off of 4th north and a new one located by Magleby's Fresh on University Ave in Provo. The BEST breakfast EVER! If you are looking for a huge breakfast with just about all breakfast foods stacked in one big pile you can order the Pitchers Mound (biscuits and gravy on the bottom with chunks of sausage, egg on top) with Killer Hashbrowns (hashbrowns, cheese, peppers, onions, sausage, bacon, mushrooms) and of course Chris douses the whole thing in ketsup. INSANE! And a ton of food! I personally can't even finish a 1/4 of it, but if Chris is super hungry, he'll eat it all! My favorite is the Biscuit High. Biscuits and gravy with yummy chunks of sausage in it. Everything runs about a dollar cheaper then Ihop and Dennys. The only downfalls are we're pretty sure everything is made with tons of butter and is high in calories and when they're busy they're a little slow, but it is so worth it!

TONIGHT:
We went to one of my favorites; the Bamboo Hut. Chris had never been so I suggested we try it. It is located by The Olive Garden in Provo across the street from Albertsons. I've only ordered 2 things there which are the coconut encrusted tilapia platter and the coconut encrusted tilapia sandwich. HAHA they are SO good! Crunchy coconut fried on top of the fish dipped in their pineapple barbeque sauce is insane! The sandwich has an awesome coconut sauce on the yummy bun with a mango salsa on top. Delicious!! Did I mention I don't like shredded coconut? Yes! The best part, right about $5! Not too bad!
Chris, never being there before just ordered what sounded good which was the Ono Chicken platter, noodles with rib sauce. I tried a bite and it was almost spicy, but sweet and very very good! Fried hawaiian chicken in a sweet teryaki sauce. He also squirted some pineapple barbeque sauce on top of that. (throuout this blog you'll discover that he is the king of sauces :-) His platter was also about $5 but they had a deal going on where both platters (not including sandwiches) plus 2 drinks were only $9.99.
